This Saturday, March 6th, the Hibernians will be presenting a plethora of events to kick off the St. Patrick’s Day season. The Rose Kennedy Division of the LAOH will be presenting their annual Irish Heritage Day. Activities Include: Irish Soda Bread Demonstration, Genealogy, Aran Knitting, Ceili/Step Dancers, Spinning Wheel Demonstration, Harp Demonstration, The Irish Baker(s), Irish Language Lesson, Irish Music, the Legend of Finn McCoul and Storytelling. Well wrap up the afternoon with a Catholic Mass @ 4:30 with Fr. Dan O’Sullivan.
Later in the evening, we’ll kick things up a notch with our St. Patrick’s Day Kickoff Party starting at 7p.m. A modest donation ($12 in advance, $15 at the door) gains you food, 1 hr of open bar, drink specials and music by Kevin Murphy and the AOH’s Traditional Irish Music Session.
This past Saturday, the Rose Kennedy Division of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians held its 43rd Annual Court of St. Brigid Hibernian Scholarship Fund Program. The program is open to young women between 17 and 23 years of age who are Catholic and of Irish descent. Congratulations to all of this years contestants!
